A Washing Machine Can Steal Computer Files
Think of hackers stealing top secret files from a military area. But, do you know, they don’t need the Internet to steak data out of the computers. They can just hack an office printer with software and turn it into a radio.
This is Red Balloon Security chief scientist Ang Cui. His hacked printer now emits radio waves to his antennae.Though it sounds sci-fi, it is possible. Researchers at a Manhattan startup have found how to make any electronic device like printer, washing machine, air conditioner, send signals signals for miles unnoticed and unheard.
This is a real innovation and a huge leap forward for hackers.
The ever expanding $77 billion cybersecurity industry main and prime job is to protect computer networks. Entities private or governments buy goods and products to stay protected. But with advent of latest hacking and security threats, the companies are looking for effective security tools.
That’s where researchers like Ang Cui and his team of bright team from Manhattan startup come in. They found a way to sneak peak into a computer network and steal data without being noticed and unalarmed.
It’s a revolutionary research, because it has the ability to sneak data from computers that are not even wired to the Internet, like those at nuclear power plants. Last week, the team demonstrated how it works to many news reporters who were present at Red Balloon Security.
