Man fined $50 for shooting roommate while teasing cat with laser sight

A Wisconsin man who accidentally shot his room-mate while playing with their cat using the laser sight was fined $50 Friday after pleading guilty to a weapons crime.

The 22-year-old said he and his room-mate were on their porch while he was "messing around" with his 9mm pistol and teasing their cat with the laser sight on May 11. When he spun the weapon, it went off and struck the room-mate's ankle.

The La Crosse Tribune reports:

'You could easily have killed your friend,' Judge Ramona Gonzalez told Rothering.

'You've probably punished yourself more than we could ever punish you.'
