When travelling to Europe, most people visit the more famous cities like London, Paris, Rome, Athens, Berlin, and Prague. Very few people visit some of the smaller, lesser known cities and towns throughout Europe. These towns may not be as big, but they are definitely worth checking out.

Český Krumlov is small city in the south of the Czech Republic. It’s built around the Vltava River and sailing on this river is a great way to enjoy the scenery. The city has a large castle which houses a beautiful theatre.

The Cinque Terre is a portion on the northeastern coast of Italy. Housing the impressive Five Villages, the region guarantees beautiful scenery.

Verona is a city in Northern Italy with a lot of amazing old architecture. It also has a Roman Arena that’s just as impressive as Rome’s Colosseum. The city definitely competes for the title of most beautiful city in Italy.

Ronda is a southern Spanish city in the province of Málaga. Over time the region has been inhabited by the Celts, Phoenicians, Romans and the Arabs. Historical settlements can still be found around the city.

The Hague is the third biggest city in The Netherlands. It houses the Dutch government and the International Court of Justice. You can also find the Maurithaus museum, which holds the famous “Girl with Pearl Earring”, in The Hague. The beach is just a small side tour considering The Hague is located by the North Sea.

Segovia is a picturesque city in central Spain. It’s big gothic cathedral and beautiful castle are the main attractions.

Ghent is a beautiful city with lots of museums, historical buildings and, of course, chocolate shops. The city has a lot of well preserved and restored medieval architecture. Ghent really is worth visit and a is nice change from the Belgium capitol Brussels.

Santorino is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea. The island emerged out of an volcanic eruption. It houses around 15.000 people and is considered a popular tourist destination.

Dresden is the capitol of the Free State of Saxony in Eastern Germany. In World War II the city was bombed to the ground by the English and Americans. Over 90% of the city center was destroyed during the bombing but a large part has been reconstructed. The city is stunning and really worth a visit.

Bergen is city in the east of Norway and was established in 1070 AD. Its location makes Bergen a perfect gateway to Norway’s fjords. The city has a lot of unique architecture that you just won’t find anywhere else.
